Blending Folk, Americana, and Roots influences with a soulful, smoky voice and vivid poetic imagery, Maria Quiles writes and performs songs with honesty, warmth, and grace. Based in Carrboro, North Carolina, she performs with just her voice and acoustic guitar.

Maria’s relationship with music began early. At eight, her grandfather taught her to write poetry while watching the sun set over the ocean, opening a lifelong fascination with turning experience into expression. A few years later, she traded a treasured pipe for a colorful guitar at a gathering in Montana, and songwriting became a constant companion through the many landscapes of her life.

After years of touring, change, and a season of healing, Maria has returned to her music with a renewed sense of purpose. Previously the songwriter and vocalist of the nationally touring duo Quiles & Cloud, she released music with Compass Records, won the FreshGrass Duo Competition, and shared stages with artists including Jerry Douglas, The Wood Brothers, Aoife O’Donovan, Peter Rowan, and John Craigie.
